Baycoast Coffee Re-Opens As Diner Sixty West

•August 13, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Where to go before karaoke, or afterwards?

Or anytime you want to get together with friends or family?

How about a cool coffee shop / diner that is locally owned, and, as of next week, open 24 hours a day?

Anyone who enjoyed Baycoast Coffee Company, 2525 Gulf-To-Bay Boulevard, Clearwater, Florida, will be glad to know that the Baycoast owners have re-opened as Diner Sixty West, with an expanded menu, and soon to be expanded hours.

There are more booths inside, and the outdoor tables remain.  The comfy red and black leather chairs that used to be at the front of the restaurant are gone… but all else is pretty much the same, including all the cakes… and hopefully the Pistachio muffins : )

The grand re-opening is the week of August 16th and Diner Sixty West will be open 24 hours a day.

Supporting locally owned businesses like this (rather than national chains) keeps our money in our community.  Seems like a good thing . . .

Harlies Is The Place To Be On Tuesday Nights

•July 29, 2010 • 1 Comment

If it is Tuesday night, the place to be is Harlies Nite Club, located at 7020 49th Street North in Pinellas Park (near 70th Avenue North).

Harlies looks unassuming from the outside, but once inside, it’s Karaoke heaven.

They have a great (large, professional) stage, a fantastic Karaoke Jockey (KJ), and the lyrics appear on a screen directly in front of you, not off to the side as many venues do.

We have some of our best Karaoke adventures at Harlies.  Come out and join us.

The Club also has pool tables, poker, very friendly staff, and a great menu.

Until next Tuesday . . .

Eight Days A Week?

•July 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Can we make it to eight days/nights in a row?

Some of us that sing at Harlie’s tonight will have been out six nights in a row for Karaoke.

Last night possibly should count twice since we went to two separate Karaoke venues.

We started at New York New York in Clearwater from 7-11pm.

We couldn’t get enough, so continued on to The Corner Grill in Largo until 2am.

Do we need to found a new program, Karaoke Anonymous (KA)?

I am completely powerless over my desire to sing.

When it came to being in a band, I wasn’t powerless, because I parted company with my piano, my guitar, and even my microphone.

But one of the joys of Karaoke is that there’s no need to find rehersal space, no need for amps, keyboards, guitars or drums.  Just show up and sing!  The only potential downside is if the KJ doesn’t happen to have the song you want to sing.

By the way, The Corner Grill in Largo (northwest corner of East Bay and Keene/Starkey) has Karaoke seven nights a week.  They also have “Captain Crunch Chicken” on the menus ; )  Can’t go wrong.

Might see you at Harlie’s?
